3 tips for a perfect lawn this summer

by | Jul 8, 2024 | Home and Living

A healthy, green lawn can add value to your property, create a space for entertainment and even help absorb pollution. Here are some tips to grow a lawn you’re proud of.

First, mow high, meaning set the blade of your lawnmower for a two-and-a-half to three-inch cut, or about 10 centimetres. This will help a strong root system to develop and discourage weeds.

Next, watch out for weeds, insects or disease. They are much easier to manage if you stay on top of the problem. Careful use of urban pesticides designed, tested and approved for residential use can help.

Finally, water wisely. Water your lawn early in the morning so you lose less moisture to evaporation. Waiting until evening could leave your lawn vulnerable to disease.

Instead of watering daily, try a deeper watering one to three times a week. This encourages deeper root growth, which helps your lawn survive in drier conditions.
