Today, there are teams of healthcare professionals looking after your health and personal well-being. Each professional serves a unique function. While they have distinct skills, the regulatory colleges that oversee them are in place to protect the public interest.

Ontario’s health regulators have launched a new website to help you find reliable and up-to-date information about your healthcare professionals.

It is a one-stop gateway to the websites of all 26 health regulators in Ontario. From the website you can find the most trustworthy information about how health colleges work to protect you and your family. You will also find information about the public services available to you from health colleges. Most importantly, you will find information about the health professionals they regulate to make sure you and your family have safe, ethical and quality healthcare.

The Ontario health regulators monitor the practice of some 300,000 healthcare professionals. These are members of health professions — like doctors, dentists, occupational therapists, pharmacists and some 20 others — that fall under the Regulated Health Professions Act. Regulatory colleges set the standards for practice and have programs to ensure that professionals practice safely and effectively.

Did you know that only members of these health colleges can use the title of a healthcare professional? Only these professionals, unlike unregulated care providers, are responsible to an Ontario health regulator for the quality of care they deliver.

Be sure to look up your regulated healthcare professional using the public register. Find a complete list online at ontarioheatlhregulators.ca.
