One-stop health care at your local pharmacy

Between complicated hybrid work schedules and full family calendars, one-stop shops have gone from optional to essential. Your local pharmacy is one of the places where you can get many health-care needs met. Here are just a few services you can access in one quick and convenient visit:

Treatment for minor ailments
Do your kids often get pink eye? Are nasal allergies driving you up the wall? These are just some of the common conditions Ontario pharmacists can treat and write prescriptions for. There’s no need to book an appointment, and the assessment is covered by OHIP. Simply stroll into your nearest Rexall pharmacy to get help for heartburn, cold sores, eczema and other minor illnesses.

Flu and other vaccines
Besides being able to administer the flu and covid vaccines, pharmacists can also give patients the shingles vaccine and some common travel vaccines. Many pharmacies accept walk-ins for this service, but it’s best to call ahead to doublecheck that you don’t need an appointment and that the vaccine you want is in stock.

Help to manage chronic conditions
If you have asthma, migraines, diabetes or another common chronic condition, your local pharmacist can help make sure your treatment plan is on track. They can review medications, provide support and suggest self-care strategies and lifestyle tips that can make a difference. If you’re trying to quit smoking, they can also provide resources and tools to help you conquer your habit.
